Worst experience with the staff who were not helpful whatsoever. I was given a quote for sending my documents, filled out the right forms and then was told to seal the bag at the counter - only to be told that I can’t send the document to the destination and then I was charged $1 for the bag which I stated I wasn’t going to use! If it wasn’t for the long line behind me, I would’ve just taken the bag, ripped it open and taken my important documents back. Ridiculous in principle to charge for the unused bags!

Irresponsible and arrogant Staff!!!!!!! I went to this shop to drop off my parcel as usual in the afternoon at around 1:20 PM on 1st Feb 2025. A young lady was at the counter handling parcels, and she was the only staff member present at that time. According to a notice on the counter window stating, "Will be back in 30 minutes," the other staff members were on a break. There were a few people waiting in the queue behind me. My parcel was in an old version of a prepaid, postage-included red colour post bag that I had purchased many years ago. I needed to send it to Christchurch. Initially, I asked the young lady if I could add tracking to my parcel. She placed a barcode sticker on it and charged me $9.xx. I explained that my post bag already included the postage and I only needed an add-on tracking service. However, she insisted that I had to pay the $9 because there was no barcode sticker on the bag. She claimed that the $9 covered both the postage and tracking service. I explained again this was an old version of the prepaid bag and the postage was already included. Therefore, she was incorrectly charging me for additional postage. She refused to accept my explanation, saying she had never heard of an add-on tracking option. She insisted that I had to pay for both postage and tracking together. Since she would not process the tracking correctly, I decided to drop off the parcel without tracking instead. However, she refused to accept it because there was no barcode sticker on it meaning I didn't pay for the postage. I explained once more this was a prepaid bag and I had dropped off many similar parcels before without any issues. I asked why she was refusing it this time. Her final response was, "If you think it is okay, feel free to drop off your parcel. I won’t guarantee it will be delivered." She made no effort to understand and find out what the old version of the prepaid bag was or how it worked. Such an irresponsible staff! In the end, I gave up and walked away. I can tell from her face expression that she felt proud, as if she was right all the time. The NZ Post website has already mentioned these old bags are still valid. I don't know why this young lady looked so proud without any knowledge about this type of post bags. Later, I went to the Sunnynook branch. And I successfully dropped off my parcel with an add-on standard tracking service for only $1. It only took 30 seconds to complete the whole thing. No issue at all. I wouldn’t mind if the young lady wasn’t familiar with the old prepaid post bag. The way she handled the situation was completely inappropriate and irresponsible. I will never visit this branch again.

Long queue, slow service and unreliable advice. I came to send a book of max 500gr to South Africa on November 18th. An Asian-looking lady advised me to use Nz post which cost $93, guaranteeing this tracking service would deliver the book to my receiver within a maximum 10 business days. Today is Dec 13, the book is still in transit. If I knew that would take that long, I rather use a normal post and wouldn't waste my $93 and 1+ hour of my lifetime. Don't use their service, stay away from them!

Several times on a Saturday there has been nobody at the counter as they are on a break which is fine and everyone is entitled to a break, but it’s bizarre that there aren’t more staff to cover during breaks given the weekend is often the only time people can get to the post office and so it’s always quite busy. Today in particular I attended the store, chose a bag and filled the delivery details only to get near the counter and nobody is there / no sign to advise what was happening. It was myself and another woman waiting and we were both looking around confused at which point the lovely lady working in the chemist advised there was only one staff member on and she had gone for a 30min lunch break…so 30 minutes to wait. I had no other choice but to wait and be late to my appointment as I had written on the bag, the store is closed Sunday and I cannot make it during the week. Also not fair on the unichem workers who have to deal with grumpy customers on behalf of the post office.

Very poor customer service from one of the employees there. As I'm already in the queue, this employee was helping another person to decide on what parcel they wanted to choose, from the wall. After they finally decide, she brings them back over to the queue, tells me "the queue is actually here" pointing in their direction and I tell her I can wait, it's not a problem. After she serves them, however, she sees me and tells me 'someone will be with you shortly' and proceeds to the person behind me in the queue to help them. And before I've been helped by someone else, this same employee starts to ask questions to the person who was about to serve me, to try and help the person behind me first. Bizarre logic and quite unprofessional.

Terrible , trying to pay a bill or use EFTPOS there doesn't work more often then it does , always issue's, they usher Chinese people to jump the que with no explanation , small and cramp , rude staff , complaining about my phone bill being crampiled! "How do I do this" yells the woman angryly while huffing and puffing , I miss the post shop that had banking in Paul Matthews Road, much nicer people

Sent a passport to the uk and was charged the most expensive price option ($105) without even mentioning that there was a cheaper option for half the price ($55). Lack of training or lack of integrity, not sure which, but either one isn’t great.

I previously posted a lengthy review to diffuse the negativity of the majority of the comments, but it seems to have disappeared. Those gremlins are everywhere. Recently the post shop was run by one woman, lovely, doing the best one woman can leading up to Christmas. The chemist was also run by one woman plus dispensing person. Run off their feet. I could feel the tension and their stress. Every time I visited I bought them a box of chocolates. The staff has now been increased, as well it needed. Nos gremlins stay away from my review.

I use their service regularly, and I often have a good experience at this Albany branch. However, my Friday visit was a ridiculous event. I brought a small package to the counter and asked to borrow a sellotape to reseal the top of the box because I forgot to add a card inside. I genuinely thought it wouldn’t be a big deal to ask that such a thing. However, the guy at the counter said they would charge a dollar for that. I thought he misunderstood me that I wanted to buy, but no, it would be a dollar for a few cm of tape. Smh and walked out.
