Took my 2015 Mazda Demio to Marek's Automotive in Gulf Harbour for a full service in October 2025. Big mistake under the current owners, Andrew and Monique, who bought the business about a year ago. Previous positive reviews seem from the old management, which was apparently much better; this experience was a nightmare. No upfront quote or cost discussion, then slammed with a $712.26 inc. GST bill for basic work like oil/filter changes and checks. They initially included an unauthorized $85 WoF charge (not requested or needed, as mine wasn't expired). Monique corrected it after sending the wrong invoice, but it raised red flags about accuracy. Service gaps galore: Air filter "forgotten" Andrew swapped it in 5 seconds flat. Brake fluid checked but not topped up (said it'd wait for future brakes), despite claiming "comprehensive" with "top up all fluids." Charged for 5L oil when my Demio only needs 3.8-4.2L—overkill or waste? Labor billed 2 hours at $125/hr, but tasks felt rushed/incomplete. When I disputed reasonably under Consumer Guarantees Act (citing market rates $402 inc GST from AA, Mazda dealers), communication turned unprofessional: Rude SMS from Andrew ("Stop crying in your Weetbix"), manipulative hints at personal hardships (ill family member) to guilt-trip, accusations of "bullying small businesses" and implying I'd done this before. Threatened Baycorp debt collectors and a lawyer over the $224 difference after I paid $402.50 as fair. Disputes Tribunal ruled I pay another $140, but even so, the service was awful poor transparency, inconsistencies, and aggressive tactics. Avoid this place; go to AA or dealerships for reliable, respectful work.
Awesome work from Andrew, he really knows what he is doing. Would 10/10 recommend for those who are interested.

Marek and his son are absolute gents- totally transparent in their work and fast to get it done. 10/10 would recommend. The way they keep their garage says it all.
Called to book WOF based on web reviews being a great reliable company. I wanted to support local. When I called to ask the man on the phone just said no we don't do it anymore and didn't even offer to suggest another local company. I'm a bit disappointed that the website is out of date especially since a review from 5 months ago was about a WOF. website needs updating please.

He's a genuine bloke and not a bad mechanic, honest prices. I have some serious cars and wouldn't go elsewhere. The Polish accent will take a little getting used to.
Best place for WOFs. Efficient, honest and practical. If something's wrong they take the time to show you exactly what the problem is and the best way to fix it. Even if it's wreckers yards and crossed fingers they make every effort. Always welcoming and happy to fit you in.
