I just had a terrible experience with a receptionist named Suaana at Avondale Health Centre. I called to make an appointment, but she was bloody awful to deal with. She kept cutting me off mid-sentence and didn’t even let me finish explaining what I needed. She demanded i listen to her!!! Her tone was rude, impatient, and completely unprofessional. It’s shocking to be treated that way when you’re just trying to book a simple appointment. I hung up feeling upset and disrespected. People go to a health centre for care and understanding — not to be spoken to like that. Management really needs to look into how she’s speaking to patients because no one deserves to be treated this way.

I hope something changes with today’s experience with the reception and nurses i had because it’s appalling!!! I’ve been with this clinic for almost 20 years. My mum for over 20 years. I have recently moved from Mount Eden to Pakuranga and I left a message for a repeat prescription for a pharmacy much closer than mount eden, I stated this 1. In my message requesting the repeat prescription 2. Again when I called back the Center to the receptionist after receiving a missed call 3. Again when a nurse called me back and was told to wait for a call back? I have never had an issue with this before as I’ve done multiple times so I’m not sure how my message of not being able to the other side of the city got missed but this new reception and nurses to doctor communication needs to be addressed. No matter where I have lived I’ve been coming to see the same two doctors since I was a baby to begin with then again when I was in high school to now.

My mother who is 91 has had the most amazing experience today. I was not able to attend but my sister did. From the beginning of my phone call to Rhonda first thing this morning, she was extremely helpful in arranging my mother an urgent appointment, she phoned with a time for a cancellation immediately followed by Dr Tony Svensson speaking to me on the phone to see my mother and also with Alex, the nurse. We can’t thank you enough, you have been wonderful and extremely caring. She is feeling much better after her visit with you today. A big THANK YOU

The staff members are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. Really makes us feel welcomed and looked after. Doctors Sam and Victoria are also friendly, caring, patience, and knowledgeable; makes us feel looked after and listen to. Their nurses are caring and attentive as well. Definitely a great clinic to part of. Parking for most of the time are available either in their car park or on street parking.

I called these people 3 times in 4 days to have them send me my blood test results. Everytime they said a nurse would call me. And then I get a text everytime after work hours with information irrelevant to my request. It's annoying how I have to constantly be on their backs to give me my medical details. Awful service.

I've been going to this practise since I was born. Dr Libby McLeay on a recent visit was pushy regarding my personal medical choices and stressing her own despite me telling her the information she was giving me was not requested nor was it what I came to see her about. She is also consistently late by a minimum of half an hour, up to 1.5 hours to every appointment I've booked with her in the past 2 years. Although she furthered my request by referring me for further tests, it wasn't before she basically dismissed my health issues trying to claim I have an alterior motive for seeking treatment. Upon calling the reception afterward to request being transferred to another doctor I was told I would have to send a formal email outlining "what I want and why" to be transferred to a new doctor - despite the fact that I can call any day and book to see any doctor on roster. They'll make me jump through hoops to see another doctor in future for no reason. I asked the receptionist to tell me whether she thinks this makes sense and she agreed it doesn't. I've transferred between clinic doctors in the past with zero issues. I feel disrespected and dismissed and will be leaving the clinic.

Dr. Carol is a head doctor there and without any knowledge of who I am, treated me with total disregard and insult on my very first visit. I did not receive the medical treatment I was seeking after paying for a consultation. I assume she is fit for duty. If in the case she was having an episode of some kind of which I doubt, I hope she finds help and stability. My money was not refunded and the receptionist appeared unempathetic and beady eyed. I am still in need of medical assistance. Shame on this malpractice. More in detail: a patient before me had been in and it appeared he knew me not out of kindness and it ought to be noted I was there for breathing difficulties, and immediately after I was followed by an Indian guy that would park next to me leaving his engine running.. she was sporting a purple shirt too. This culture is in decline.
