    Yikes. I had the worst customer service experience when checking out today at the JD Sylvia Park store. I spent $230 on a pair of Nike Shox 4 during Christmas week. After being helped and served by a lively, helpful worker on the floor, we went to the counter to pay for the shoes. Not a word was said or smile given by Sisilia on counter - fine, didn't bother us too much. After scanning the shoes, she asked if we wanted "shoe protection". No idea what it was, no explanations added on what it was either, I assumed it was some sort of insurance. Either way I declined, then she asked - "Genuinely, why not though?" in a condescending tone, where I answered it was "not in my budget/we're broke after this". Her response to that was HOSTILE, she replied: "Broke but buying these shoes? These are like a rents worth of money, but you can't afford shoe protection?", to which I added that it was a CHRISTMAS GIFT and not for myself. She then went "Ok" and started talking to the customers behind us. The worst attitude I've ever had to experience which is really disappointing. Looking back at this experience, customers do not need to explain to themselves more after declining an "additional" service. No is no. We felt criticized, uncomfortable and unacknowledged. I came on Google to check the reviews, and there are a lot of similar complaints on JD's customer service being poor. This is genuinely a terrible look on the company and it doesn't look like much has changed throughout the timeline. Hope this issue improves and that as a team, you would prioritize kindness and the bare minimum trait - respect?

    Dear JD Management, Today, I visited your JD store at Sylvia Park, and I had one of the worst customer experiences of my life. The staff at this location seemed to have very little experience in how to treat customers professionally. In particular, one female staff member was extremely rude in her behavior. I spent over $500 today at JD, and over the years, I have spent a significant amount of money in JD stores worldwide. This was my first visit to the Sylvia Park location. I purchased two pairs of shoes, and while browsing, I picked up a shoe care spray from the display to test its scent. I simply wanted to check how good or bad it smelled before deciding to buy. Immediately, one staff member spoke to me very rudely, saying, “If you try it, you have to buy it. That’s our policy,” without any politeness or explanation. There was no sign or notice saying “Do not try” or “Testers not allowed.” I completely understand if the staff had politely informed me not to use it, but her tone and attitude were unacceptable. Even though the spray was only $35 and I still bought it, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. I’ve visited JD stores in Italy and Germany many times and always had excellent customer service. That’s why I chose to shop here in New Zealand as a loyal JD customer. Unfortunately, this store gave me the opposite experience. I understand this is not the owner’s fault, but I hope management reviews this incident so that other customers do not face the same issue in the future.

    Reading the reviews. I know get that customer service isn’t a priority at JD. Went a few days ago to get my partner some shoes. We were in the store for probably 5 mins and my partner found what he wanted. Asked the sales guy if there was another pair, he made the excuse that the systems weren’t working and he can’t check. Ok fine. My partner had his eyes locked so I went to the front to ask the girl (who was a sweetheart) she looked into the system (that aparently wasn’t working ) and checked the sizes which was available. How convenient. Anyways the boys there grunted when asked to get the other size. Making excuses . I was ready to walk out, but that girl made me stay as she was so lovely…. Anyways JD sort out the customer service , it’s ridiculous to be treated that way. And to the boys that work there. If you don’t want to help customers don’t come to work…. You get paid to help not to make excuses. This is the first and last time I’ll visit JD ….

    I’m writing this review to raise a serious concern about a staff member’s behaviour at JD Sports Sylvia Park . When my partner asked about a size for a pair of slides for me, the staff replied dismissively, saying, “Go check at the counter.” My partner looked disappointed but didn’t say anything. As he was walking away, the same staff suddenly raised his voice, saying, “Keep shaking your head, yeah, keep shaking your head.” This was provocative, unprofessional, and entirely unacceptable behaviour from a staff member representing a major retail brand. As per JD Sports’ own customer service standards, staff are expected to be “polite, professional and enthusiastic.” The conduct clearly fails to meet that duty of care to maintain professionalism and a safe environment for customers. I want to be clear that I am not siding with my partner — I could have even told him to be more patient. But what concerns me most is that the staff member showed no patience or awareness of his obligation to act professionally at work. It’s concerning where this kind of confidence to blatantly behave that way toward a customer comes from, forgetting that they are representing the company and are obliged to maintain respect and composure. How hard would it have been to simply say, “I don’t have a machine to check stock, but you can check at the counter,” in a polite tone? A little courtesy would have completely avoided the situation. We weren’t being demanding. We both work in customer service too, so we fully understand the challenges — and we also know when behaviour clearly crosses the line of what’s acceptable. It was fortunate that my partner didn’t hear the remark, as he was already walking toward the counter. Otherwise, it could have escalated into a serious confrontation that might have become physical, which would have been entirely preventable. I will also be raising a formal complaint with JD Sports Head Office, as I believe this is not a simple issue to overlook. This behaviour deserves a proper investigation and corrective action to ensure customers are treated respectfully and safely in the future.

    I had one of the worst retail experiences at JD Sports Sylvia Park. Their pricing is blatantly misleading – they displayed a tag showing “Was $230, Now $230.” That is not a discount; it’s deceiving advertising. To make things worse, after I confirmed the size and selected a pair of shoes that was on display, the staff refused to sell it at the counter, saying it “wasn’t supposed to be out on the shelf.” If it’s not for sale, it should never be displayed in the first place. This kind of behaviour feels dishonest and unprofessional. It wasted my time, and it shows complete disregard for customers. I will not be shopping here again and strongly recommend others avoid this store.

    No doubt it has such pathetic reviews.The sales agents are rude and doesn’t care about customers. I found this particular sales person in the picture,extremely racist. He wasn’t even looking or responding to me when i was talking to him. Why would a company hire employees like that .Awful Ended up buying from footlocker who are far better in terms of customer service

    Incredibly dissapointed with the customer services I have seen in this store. The staff are young, and don't seem to want to be there but more over they are Incredibly racist. I have witnessed this myself. I'm a white female who went in with her POC friend. We received totally different shopping experiences. It's 2023 get with the time's. Racism has no part in society and no part in customer service. I suggest you take a long hard look at your staff and figure out where you went wrong. Because you are not going to get customers coming back at the moment. Im.happy to discuss this further with head office or the store if they so wish.

    I am not sure about the negative reviews by other peeps out there but my online experience for JDSports so far is second to none! I purchased 2 Jordan from them and the shoes were delivered 2 days after. The second one was ordered like 9-10pm and got processed literally 5am following morning! I am impressed on how quick they dispatched it! I ordered the same shoe from FL waited for the timer to become available only to find out a day after that all of my size were OOS (the only lesson I've learn is FL online ordering sucks) TLDR; superb online ordering and got the shoes 2 days after! Highly recommend!
