   Failed a WOF for a rear brake imbalance and took it to Bart’s Auto Service. After Arvin first looked at it, it failed the recheck, and I only had a few days before heading away on holiday. I called back and the service was great. Arvin took the time to explain what was going on properly and was really upfront and honest about everything. He even offered to come to me after hours to fix it. He fixed it the following day and the WOF was all sorted. The explanation around the brake imbalance made total sense and the cost was very reasonable. Really appreciated the help and the way it was handled.

   Highly recommend Arvin. He is very helpful and friendly, and they don’t try to rip you off by making things up. After fixing my car, he even offered for me to come back for a quick check-up, which he didn’t have to do. I really appreciate the honesty and care. I’ll definitely be coming back for future services with Bart from now on.

   UPDATED REVIEW BELOW! 21 NOV 2025! If I could give minus stars I would. He ask me to remove my review so I’ve decided to update it with a more detailed review. The car went in for repairs worth 3k on 20 March 2025, we received car back 24 March 2025. On 27 March 2025, whole car shaking, engine light on. Messaged and called Alvin immediately and he said he’d come look at the car. He come on 28 March 2025 to take a look, advised coil pack needed replacing and wiring as well charging $600. He come back 29 March to repair and then said there was other problems so he will have to come back. I try to call and message, he then tells me he’s in Wellington. 5 April 2025 he message to come see the car, he said he will get tow truck to come pick it up. I text 6 April 2025 for him to come take the car when he can, cause he has the car keys. Car didn’t get picked up until the 14th of April and has been in the shop since. It’s now 26 June 2025, between those dates, he’s given the excuse that he’s been out of town, can’t determine what’s wrong yet or waiting for parts. He did call today and say car will be ready soon. But I know what his kind of soon means. Could be days. I understand that he is only one mechanic, but like cmon, just be honest and communicate. 21 NOV 2025 Paid and pick up vehicle 20 Nov 2025 I am very grateful he allowed us to pay the car and pick up later due to family emergency. However, the car was ready in July to be picked up. There was still a problem he had told us we’d have to go elsewhere to repair. Which is ok. But when we picked up the car, the car needed a jump start, battery is very much dead. Car was pulled apart. Engine cover wasn’t put back on as well as another piece missing he had to give when we left. Back seat had been pulled off and not put back on. The car was just a mess. First and last time ever using this mechanic.

   Thank you many times over to Arvie, proprietor of Barts Autos, Onehunga. Arvie is a specialist Auto Electrician, a very thoughtful, experienced mechanic and garage owner who really cares about the quality of his work. He went the extra mile for me, coming around to charge up my battery when I mistakenly left the lights on (more than once). I was not able to see him before leaving NZ but I'll certainly go to him to check my 2005 Toyota Voxy over when I get back To NZ in a year's time.

   I had an incredible experience with barts auto They not only cleared my WOF but also fixed both a mechanical issue and a tricky software problem on my car. Everything was done professionally and with great attention to detail. What really impressed me was how they went the extra mile with my second visit for warrant of fitness—fixing a small headlight issue at no extra charge. That kind of honesty and customer care is rare these days! If you’re looking for a mechanic who truly knows their stuff and goes above and beyond, I can’t recommend them enough. I’ll definitely be coming back for any future work.

   Best mechanic I've found, won't be going anywhere else. Arvind is consistently honest and friendly, explaining everything in detail and trying to keep costs low when he can.
