Sensei Tavita and the team have done a tremendous job with cultivating a karate training ground that fosters technique and discipline, while harnessing the importance of genuine community, fun and connection. Their holistic approach to elevating every students experience on a personal and tailored level, whether it be through the immaculate facilities, or the curriculum itself, is indeed admirable. Cannot express how much I've enjoyed being a student here, and witnessing the growth, joy and sense of achievement of my little loved ones here too.

Our family has been part of Suzaku Kan for the past 6 years, ever since we moved from Sydney to Onehunga. We were recommended this dojo and Tavita as a great fit for our kids—and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made. The dojo’s family-run, community-based approach has been incredible for our children’s personal growth, confidence, and martial arts ability. The support, discipline, and values they’ve gained here go far beyond the mat. Highly recommend Suzaku Kan to any family looking for a dojo that truly gets the 1%ers right. It’s more than just training—it’s a community.

This is the place to be. Sensei Tevita is exceptional. He is very good with the young ones and has a great balance of fun and discipline, resulting in kids sticking with it longer. They offer 3 classes a week and you can go as many or few times as you like. My kids have been attending for about 6 months now and it's been a great decision. I would highly recommend this dojo to other parents who want to get their kid into karate. Well worth it.

We love our dojo! My son joined in Jan 2020, and then covid hit! Suzaku Kan went above and beyond by committing to online zoom Karate, which provided some kind of stability and normality in the otherwise sea of uncertainty! By the 3rd or was it 10th (haha) lockdown we were all getting pretty good at the zoom sessions! We love the professionalism and the dedication to the kids, and helping them push harder to keep on achieving and getting better at karate! Enzo loves karate and we love Sensai and Christine, and the feeling that we are just one big karate family! Here’s to many more years there! Thank you for everything you do! Andrea and Enzo ❤️

Fantastic dojo to join very welcoming, Sensei Tavita and his wife Christine are amazing from the get go! A very friendly environment; the kids learn really great life skills in karate. Highly recommend Suzaku Kan at Onehunga.

A great dojo with a very family oriented feel to it. It upholds all the traditional elements of karate-do & dojo etiquette, which was important to me when I migrated from another style. I enjoy training and the fact that we break down techniques and learn how to apply it in a self-defence situation effectively. My son has joined as well and senior belts keep training for the kids fun and interesting while still maintaining the discipline expected of karate. Highly recommended… See more

Suzaku Kan Karate has been absolutely amazing for our three boys. Our eldest son started in the 2-3 year old tiny tigers class and four years later is now in the Juniors classes and still going strong, learning combinations and kata's. His younger brothers 3 years and 1 year have joined the Tiny Tigers classes on a Saturday morning and always look forward to their sessions. Tavita and Christine make a great team and run the Dojo well together.
