The waiting time is more than 8 hours β is this really an emergency department? Itβs hard to believe that patients in urgent need of care have to wait this long. An emergency department is supposed to handle critical cases promptly, but this delay defeats the whole purpose.

Went to ED with my 3 years old with a bleeding nose on 3rd of July. That nurse was so rude, with her bad attitude. She was keep questioning me about first language rather than my son's condition. She was acting like, she is talking to my son who doesn't start to talk. When I was explaining it she doesn't want to listen and showed her angery face to me. Really bad attitude as a nurse. Must show some empathy to the people who comes to ED. After waiting more than 2.30 hours I went to ask about waiting time. She said you need to wait, not going to see the doctor soon. I left because my 8 months baby was crying. I know nurse can shuffle the list and make us wait but please don't play with life. The nurses in the ED used to be nice and well behaved. First time had this bad service.

It is an absolutely ridiculous hospital. I wish I can do rating in -5 . Went there on Sunday morning because of my daughter's fever recommended by pluncket. After waiting 2 hours in emergency I got an answer you are here only for 2 hours we have people in emergency department waiting for approx 9 hours. This is not something to consider as an achievement that only 2 hrs is better then 9 hours. We went home without seeing a doctor after 2 hours. Nurse was absolutely amazing but receptionist lady with gray hair needs to learn some empathy. Answer "we will get to it when we get to it" in emergency department is not something patients want to here after long wait.

My 16 months daughter admitted to ED with continuous seizures and amazing nurses doctors and all staff at hutt hospital ED & ICU did everything in their power to save her. The quick decisions they made during the process saved my daughter without any injury internally. I have no words to say thank you for this amazing team. They are the best team. Thank you

Sharing my experience today 18/07/23 My 14 month old baby suddenly developed shiver and high fever, weak and irresponsive for few minutes. Called regular gp who suggested I call ambulance. Ambulance said they are busy but insisted I take him to emergency to be seen by a doctor. Rachael who was the triage nurse did not triage correctly and we waited 5 hours and decided to leave after not being called. In the 5 hours his temperature increased, he vomited, became more tired and every time I went to check how long its going to take, received nothing but incorrect wait times and stories. My son vomited on my wife and me and we were waiting there like that, which was seen by the nurse. Although this was noted in system nothing happened. After 2 hours wait I was advised he is second on the list. But about 7-8 patients who came after were called before us after I was told that we were second to be seen. Even just before leaving also I checked and I was told I was second in queue. So I dont know what system is this where you remain at the same spot for hours while people come and go from and through the queue.

The sign says it all. Four hours in the waiting room and counting. Nurse said likely another 6 ahead of us.

I walked in for a suspected broken finger at 10am on a Saturday and I was immediately seen by the receptionist. They arranged a lovely St John's helper to fill in the forms for me as I couldn't write. Then the on duty doc had a quick look and have me some pain killers. Then i was taken Into a room to see a doctor, then x-rays, then results and a splint. Next thing I knew I was home with a prescription. All and all it was about 2 hours which is much quicker then I expected. Thank you!

This is ANOTHER NEGATIVE FEEDBACK. Avoid going there but also never ever go there after 6pm otherwise you will be leaving after 2am! There is no doctor after around 10pm. After waiting 7 hours to see a doctor for my semi broken wrist, I finally decided to go and talk to reception. Then I was told that there are only 2 doctors. Apparently even those 2 did not visit any patient in the last 3 hours (from 11pm to 2am that I started to chase them). You better to go and find another emergency department or even go another town like Plamy instead of waiting 7 hours here! What a shame that I have been paying 33% of my hard earning income to beg for basic medical service. The question is where are all those medical practitioners, doctors, or even medical students to help? Are hospitals our new monster monopolies swallowing countrys budget?

I went in at 9am on a Friday and was so impressed with how efficient, excellent and caring all the staff were. From the front desk to the surgeon. The nurses were amazing. I'm so grateful to you Hutt ED and Surgical your actions truly felt life saving. You didn't muck around.
