Popped into Ruby while I was in Auckland to grab a few workwear essentials. All the girls were so lovely. The store had such a great atmosphere, even though it was busy. The team were super helpful, made me feel comfortable, and brought such positive energy to the whole experience. I’ll definitely be visiting again (and buying more)!
I’ve always loved Ruby, and I make a point to visit the Newmarket store whenever I’m in Auckland because it’s the most convenient location for me. However, there's one staff member in particular (I’m not sure of her name) who consistently comes across as rude and judgmental, which makes the experience really unpleasant. In contrast, the team at Ruby Hamilton are always warm, friendly, and helpful - a true reflection of the Ruby brand. It’s disappointing that the Newmarket team doesn’t uphold the same standard, and unfortunately, this repeated experience has really impacted how I feel about shopping at that location. It no longer feels like the Ruby I know and love, and for that reason, I won’t be returning to the Newmarket store.
Today I visited your Newmarket store for the first time and, unfortunately, was disappointed with the level of service I received. Upon entering, I wasn’t acknowledged or welcomed by any of the staff. It wasn’t until it became clear that I was considering making a purchase that I was approached. The overall atmosphere felt judgemental, as though the staff were selective in who they chose to assist—only engaging with customers who appeared likely to buy or who fit a certain “look.” As a brand known for its quality and elevated image, I expected a more inclusive and welcoming experience. Ironically, I’ve received warmer service at more affordable retailers like Glassons. After reading similar recent reviews, I can see that my experience isn’t unique. I hope this feedback encourages your team to reflect on how all customers are treated—regardless of appearance or perceived purchasing power.
My friend and I visited this store today. Not a single greeting from any of the 3 staff on (we were the only ones in store) however when a more well put together customer came in they greeted her straight away and asked if she needed a hand. We then left and the staff did not say goodbye or thank you but did glare. It’s such a shame that this experience has tampered my view on a brand that loudly advocates for inclusivity and kindness. I am based in Wellington and whenever I have visited that store I am always welcomed with a smile and staff eager to help. The Newmarket team could take a page out of their book and work on their customer service skills.
I am usually an avid lover of RUBY and their clothes as they preach inclusivity and kindness. Hate to report that this store was the total opposite. When I went into store I was incredibly excited to buy a few things for my summer wardrobe. The girl who served me was cold, judgmental and rude. When I asked her for some help with sizing another girl came in and the lady left me alone in the shop. I wasn't asked if the sizing was okay, how it was going or if I needed help even though there were multiple staff there. I will never shop at this store again. Making people feel like crap is never a good thing.
Lovely staff and definitely one of my favorite shops in Auckland! The staff are so helpful and such nice genuine people.

The staff here are so helpful and kind. I was stumped on which colour Kenzie jumper to purchase and they happily bought me my size in every colour to try, and welcomed me back a week later when I finally decided. Happily shop here any time.
I went shopping in NM all afternoon and couldn't find anything that fitted me and was on the verge of tears. The last store I popped into was Ruby, with fairly low expectations. Instead, I was welcomed with a full range of clothes that were in my size and I had the most incredible sales assistant... it's like someone had answered my prayers. Being a curvy girl with all the mum curves too, it felt like an impossible mission but Ruby made it possible. Definitely spent a little more than I wanted to but it was worth every cent in service and body acceptance... Thank you xx I wish I knew the name of the girl that served me, she is a keeper!
