My child has been swimming with Fulton since he was six months old. The instructors are amazing with kids and know how to get the most out of their students.
Rowena and the Indian lady took my sons class. They were pushing his head sideways and submerging his head forcefully. He was terrified. He told me after the lesson that they were drowning him. The school is a good school but these ladies approach to teaching is questionable. They have no patience and did not take the time to teach him. Instead they put their hands on the childrens heads pushing them under the water. Trying to teach them to breathe sideways but if the child has not mastered the kicking they end up under water trying to breathe. He was waving his hands around because he couldnt breathe!! But they werent taking notice. Teachers should NEVER touch/force the kids heads. DO NOT put your children with these ladies. I choose the other teachers instead.
The absolute best swim School every instructor takes time with your child and classes are always small so your child does not get lost in the mix of learning
We love Kate, she has been an incredible swimming instructor for our girl. Our girl loves coming each week and has gained so much confidence already. Highly recommend.
We've been coming here weekly for about 7 months. The teachers are so patient , kind and engaging. We have mostly had Tegan and shes wonderful.My 3 year old has been happy and learning so much! The water is lovely and warm, definitely helps the kids enjoyment and willing to participate. I've done lessons at a public pool that was always freezing (think babies with blue lips) but Fulton is basically like swimming in a warm bath. Well worth the cost. We do lessons on a Wednesday and it's also super quiet.
I have had a child at Fulton Upper Hutt for around a 18 months now. I’m usually happy with the engagement of teachers with children. In the case of uncertainty, caregiver concerns are addressed quickly, professionally and with understanding. I appreciate that the teachers and leadership are always willing to give tips and talk through a child’s progress when needed. Unfortunately their views on disability are not well considered and disability is not well catered for.
Aaliyah is our instructor - she's brilliant! The classes are engaging and no one gets left behind or out. Only downside is lack of changing facilities for young babies/toddlers, lack of space for spectators. I think I would struggle without an extra pair of hands as the changing rooms have no doors and there isn't anywhere to lie a baby down. No space to bring a buggy either. No issues with parking on the street on a Sunday.
Amazing swim school! My kids are absolutely thriving, and their confidence has grown so much in a short space of time! Highly recommend.
Ara did enjoy her time here and the pool is a nice temperature. But hubby and I found it quite pricey for the amount of time spent in the pool. And some of the teachers often offered little-no encouragement, and for new swimmers, that's really important. Contact isn't always easy and was a bit shocked by the customer service at one point. But once I talked to the manager things were sorted - appreciate it :) If you're in Kapiti - we recently tried Coastlands swim lessons and were blown away. Amazing teachers and very accommodating.
My daughter has been attending Fulton Swim School in Upper Hutt for over 3 years. She had developed strong swimming skills and confidence in the water while understanding the importance of being safe. The instructors are patient and encouraging while allowing the children to develop at their own pace. The swimming levels are great and encourage kids to improve by going up levels and getting a ribbon to keep for their achievement. Would highly recommend!
