Clean and nice beach. not ideal for swimming because of wild waves and sharp rocks (I injured my feet). You also have the option of watching sunset since it is on the west side of NZ.
How absolutely gorgeous when you have good weather. The water was cold but refreshing in the NZ summer heat yesterday. So nice to see all the people with their dogs. Was surprised to find so many seashells. The black sand was like powder and just exquisite!
Piha beach is a lovely beach with great waves for surfers! I recommend to just take a long stroll along the beach or even hike up lion rock if you dare ;) Beautiful spot that definitely deserves attention! Free public toilets are scattered everywhere and there is plenty of free parking provided.
We went in March. This is so beautiful and my top ten beaches ever. It is worth the winding drive to get here. Temperature was too cold for swimming for us but I would love to go back when it is warmer.
Piha Beach is a very popular beach for both tourists and local residents. My husband and I have been to Piha Beach for several times and we both love the views there. We enjoyed the great view there and the delicious real fruit ice cream at Cones On The Beach which is just opposite to Piha Mid Beach. We highly recommend you to go there at daytime, but only night time.
Black sands and no crowds. Just waves and the lion rock. Very peaceful and easy to access.
We were there in 2016 and we absolutely loved it. We were there 3 days before we got married Hobbiton and this was our favorite Beach
I loved the scenes and the wide outstretched beach. This is not just a beach experience. There are lots of discovering to do like the caves, Lion Rock and Mercer outlook point. I did get a huge blister under my one foot due to the hot sand though. This is a place for young and old to enjoy.
