   I was referred to Neil by a dear friend earlier this year, and although I was warned about his tough love approach, I can confidently say that choosing him as my counsellor has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The tough love is real, but it's always balanced with deep compassion. Neil listens attentively to every word I say and treats me with kindness and respect. His office has become my safest space, where I feel fully accepted and free from judgment—a place where I can be my true self. I never imagined that I would actually enjoy counselling, but Neil has helped me break out of my shell, heal wounds I thought would last a lifetime, and truly embrace the person I am. I am incredibly grateful for his guidance and support.

   Neil is unregistered, unqualified and frightening. I wouldn’t recommend anyone, particularly women, be in a room alone with him. Stay safe out there.

   I’ve seen many counsellors and have found it hard to find somebody I feel comfortable with. I’ve now been seeing Neil for over 3 years and it’s been great. He has been such a key element to helping me progress with my life and overcome obstacles that have been thrown my way. I highly recommend him and am grateful I have found somebody to speak to who has been so helpful.

   Neil Oliver has been my counsellor since January 2023 and the one that I've stuck with ever since. He has seen me at my lowest and at each step treated me with empathy, kindness, and aroha. He knows when to be the listener and when to show a little bit of tough love. He is professional, and shows a deep sense of care for those he walks alongside and that is evident in how he listens and advises you. We share good banter at times and that shows me how relatable he is. He has helped me identify a diagnosis that no one else has picked up for years (and I am beyond grateful for that). Undoubtedly, I would recommend him to others.

   After visiting the Auckland Counselling Clinic I had left a negative review for Neil on the other page. In response private information that I told in confidence was shared (it has since been updated). It has been such a traumatic experience to share private information about my life and having it used publicly as a weapon. Please do yourself a favour and keep looking if you need a counsellor. This is not where you want to go.
