Had an amazing experience all around at the Newlands Medical Centre. From the reception, to the nurses and drs they were super flexible in getting me in on the day and greatful for their thoroughness.

So far, 5 stars. Because of the following reasons: - they accepted my daughter when there's no other clinics in Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt who would take new enrolment. I think I emailed/phoned more than 10 clinics that are either accepting waitlist or new enrollees. - appreciate the immediate response from their reception and records team. Also very accommodating. - when I asked for a gp to see my daughter, I expected to wait longer but I don't remember this was the case with Newlands - I don't remember waiting that long for my daughter's scheduled gp consult. I hope this 5 star rating stays :)

Review of Newlands Medical Centre ⭐ Reception Team – 5 Stars ⭐ ⭐ Waiting Room – 5 Stars ⭐ ⭐ Dr. Elton Nguy – 5 Stars ⭐ ⭐ Nurses – 4 Stars ⭐ It was time to go to the New Medical Centre at Newlands Medical Centre, and my experience was mostly great. The reception team was absolutely awesome, amazing, and incredibly kind. They made me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. They definitely deserve 5 stars! The waiting room was also fantastic. One of my favorite parts was the super comfortable and soft chairsβ€”they made the wait much more pleasant. Another highlight was the beautiful fish tank with Goldfish. Watching them swim was so relaxing and added a calming atmosphere to the room. A perfect 5-star experience! I had an appointment with Dr. Elton Nguy, and he was truly outstanding. He deserves 5 stars! He was very kind, understanding, and supportive, especially in working with my Prader-Willi Syndrome. He took the time to listen and made sure I felt comfortable throughout my visit. His approach was professional yet caring, which I really appreciated. However, my experience with the nurses was not as positive. They were not as clear in their communication, which is important for someone with Prader-Willi Syndrome. It seemed like they lacked some understanding of how to interact effectively with people who have the condition. I would give them 4 stars because they could improve in this area. Overall, Newlands Medical Centre has a fantastic reception team, a relaxing waiting area, and an excellent doctor in Dr. Elton Nguy. I hope to see improvements in how the nurses communicate and support people with Prader-Willi Syndrome in the future.

Really recommend this practice. Staff took time to follow up on requests, are considered and listen. Felt like the Dr I see cares about my health and doing a thorough job eg, unusual test result, will do a follow up test next appointment, will double check for most appropriate medication if more than one option available. Takes the time to explain treatment process with me. Practice overall, seems to have a good culture re providing medical services.

Modern facilities, friendly receptionists and nurses. Loved the clear instructions from the door to DIY blood pressure and height/weight measurement. Special thanks to Nurse Jo for making me feel comfortable with my tests. No judgment, no fuss - just professional! Setting up and using myIndici was so easy too.

My adult daughter has seen dr Rebecca 3x recently. I can’t believe how thorough she has been and the communication has been top notch over and above what we would expect. She was only running 25 minutes late one day and 20 or so the next time. Very impressive for the work load I know the doctors carry. Newlands medical centre I hope you know how lucky you are to have such an awesome doctor working for you and thank you all for all the hard work you all do. I appreciate all the hard work you all do everyday and realise you all work well and truely above your hours. Thanks Rebecca you’re an amazing human!

Been going here for 20+ years and it’s gone downhill significantly in the last few years. If you go here, get used to waiting 30-60 minutes past your appointment time due to their incompetence (this has happened with every appointment I’ve had in the last few years). One time a few months back I waited for over 2.5 hours for my scheduled appointment. Don’t sign up for this practice, look elsewhere. You’ll thank me.

I visited Newlands Medical Centre whilst on holiday from Australia in December. I needed somewhat urgent medical attention that would have warranted a trip to hospital but I was travelling solo and didn’t know what to do or where to go in that moment. The staff were very helpful, really looked after me and spent a lot of time reassuring me and making sure I was going to be alright for the rest of my trip. The experience far exceeded any private or public GP experience I have had in Australia.

Worst place to see doctor as every time if you book an appointment be aware doctor will call you after 45 mnts or so. Always one thing ohh so sorry everyone is late. Dont see Great doctor Alten however it spelled. No matter how sick are you he has only one answer, ohh it looks like viral and there is no medicine. The worst doctor in NZ. Dont know from where he got his Phd. The only best doctor newlands medical centre had was Dr. julia.
