   We took this ferry over to the South Island. The ferry is “Hugh” with a lounge area, cafe, and sitting room. We had a beautiful day, so we went to the upper deck for views and pictures.

   Terrible if you want to rest without getting a cabin. Pathetic amount of passenger seating and no quiet room. Never again. Interislander every time from now on.

   My wife tripped and fell heavily soon after getting aboard in Picton. Deck staff reacted immediately to assist her for which we are both extremely grateful. When coming into Wellington there was an announcement that assistance would be available to people if needed. I enquired and it was organised without hesitation. We were transported off the ship in a vehicle to the pick up place ashore. Excellent service from excellent staff. Many thanks

   My one peeve is backpackers walking on and lying end for end on every available bit of seating to sleep. Vehicle owners get an uncomfortable hard seat if they are lucky, standing if they arent.

   Canceled my crossing by txt message. Message advised to go on website to rebook, but when you did the site said ring. After holding on for an hour gave up. We had to leave our car and caravan in North Island for a month. Cost us a fortune to get them and us to get home

   If the weather is good, stand outside for spectacular views. Get a cabin worth it if the boat is full & bad weather hits. If they have lots of animal movers on-board stay downwind, could be smelly near back of boat (where cars are parked). Have food, drinks, tvs to watch. Free bus to town when arriving at Picton.
