Vivian Ho is a caring, patient, and highly professional therapist. Through her thoughtful guidance, our child has been able to express inner feelings and release emotional stress in a safe and engaging way — whether through conversations, games, or creative activities like drawing. Over time, we’ve seen remarkable growth in our child’s emotional strength, especially in areas of self-acceptance, self-esteem, and personal identity. Vivian’s empathy and professionalism have truly made a difference. We wholeheartedly recommend Vivian to any child or adolescent in need of psychological support. May more children in this world feel the love and strength that she so kindly brings to her work.

We used the services of Totally Psyched in 2023. Unfortunately, this clinic does not deliver the high quality services it advertises and the operational/business management at this clinic is of a very poor quality. I am reluctant to leave bad reviews, however in this case it was so bad and unethical I feel others should be forewarned to go elsewhere. The clinician we saw for an ed psych report was good, but sadly the overall experience we had with this clinic was highly unprofessional and of a very poor quality. For anyone wanting expert care for their children I would strongly advise not to come here. There are other private providers who charge significantly less and provide the care and support families and children need. Navigating the public system would be considerably easier and less stressful than going to this clinic. Below was reflective of our experience with ''Totally Psyched' - as provided in our email feedback to them in November 2023. "...I really feel like Totally Psyched is capitalising on people's need for care by charging high rates for consultations/testing. The fees for an ADHD diagnosis don't seem to reflect a different service or speciality training to justify the high charge. I think this is poor taste for vulnerable families who may be feeling desperate for answers. Often parents do not know 'definitively' if their children have ADHD and or other diagnoses,, yet Totally Psyched is expecting parents to be aware of what they need to screen their children for, with no all encompassing ADHD ASD screening. I was told if I thought ASD may also need to be screened for that would be an additional screening fee on top of the ADHD fee. There are no paediatricians or psychiatrists in Auckland who charge over $2000 plus an hour for a diagnosis of ASD or ADHD. I was prepared to pay that as I was desperate to access a diagnosis. Then after waiting some time for an ADHD assessment I was informed of a possible assessment date and told this would be carried out by an intern (not the experienced senior clinicians that was marketed). I said no thank you. I wanted an experienced clinician and could they please advise me of when the next availability was. It was strongly inferred this should not be looked down on as an option and there would be no difference in quality of care. These comments were condescending, passive aggressive and Totally Psyched overlooked they were marketing a 'superior' diagnostic service for ADHD with an intern at a fee not seen elsewhere in the Auckland region of private psychologists. I discussed this with friends and we were all shocked and agreed there is no way we would take our kids to an intern for a diagnosis. I followed up with the receptionist at Totally Psyched about when I could book my child in for their ADHD assessment (without an intern interviewing), and I was informed current availability was only with interns and they would come back to me about experienced clinicians availability as soon as possible. That was on July 28th. I did not hear back from the reception again. I have since found another provider. ..."

Totally Psyched have supported our children's needs for over 18months. This has been through one-on-one sessions, assessments for ADHD. TP have always put the needs of the children first and communicated where applicable and required. The staff have a vast field of expertise and continue to develop and support the children as requirements change. The staff are friendly and more than accommodating with appointment slots. There is always someone to communicate with and I have found them professional and factual with report writing and support. Thank you to all the team at TP.

My son has been attending this clinic for over three years, and while we've had some truly positive experiences—particularly with his therapist Matt, who was an incredible support for both my son and our family—I feel extremely let down by the way things have ended. Despite our long-standing relationship with the clinic, we were recently dropped from their service without any proper consultation or discussion. To make matters worse, the reasons provided for cancelled appointments were not truthful, and attempts to resolve the situation have been frustratingly one-sided. Communication has been limited to back-and-forth emails, with no willingness to pick up the phone and have a direct conversation. This lack of transparency and personal engagement makes you feel like you're being avoided, rather than supported. It's incredibly disappointing to have had such a promising relationship end in this way, especially when care and consistency are so important in therapy. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share our experience in the hope that it encourages better communication and accountability in the future.

Money comes first and your child second. And for a company that is claiming to help support mental health, they lack the compassion and understanding of family situations past their bottom line. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone. - to add to their “response” below, we had to pay for an appointment that we could not make last minute due to my youngest child being very unwell and later hospitalised. We then got sent a bill to pay the sum total of $550 for a service we didn’t receive, or get given another option to rebook. Totally psysched then sent it to the debt collectors when they didn’t understand why we didn’t want to pay for something we didn’t receive due to a situation out of our control. They pushed it onto debt collectors. So I will say it AGAIN lack of compassion or understanding past their bottom line end of story.

Totally Psyched and in particular Dr Sarah Watson has provided my family with exceptional care over the past 4 years. Expert clinical advice and guidance. It’s been a tough journey and Dr Watson has literally changed our lives.. We have strategies, we have tools and we have knowledge all as a result of our relationship with Totally Psyched. Wow - Sarah and her team made such an incredible difference in our family's life as we navigated the teenage years! Always professional, available and was able to help us make sense of so many situations. We feel forever grateful that we had her guidance and was worth every cent we spent.

I have seen more than 5 different psychologists at 5 different clinics and none of them compared to my experience at totally psyched. I have been there for 3 years now and have continued to receive exceptional customer service by all who I have interacted with. Dr Sarah Watson as my therapist has helped me gained so many different skills that has helped me through some of the toughest moments of my life. I could not name a better place to help you on your journey, whatever it may be.

Parents. We have vulnerable children and if commuication is agressive invoicing ($6000 all paid over 6 months) and seems out of balance with reports (nothing until I sent a demand letter) and feedback is difficult, try for a second opinion. It's the best thing we ever did. Happy child, happy parents and a more holistic approach elsewhere has worked wonders. The 2 stars are for the two reception staff who came and left during that period.

It's your child - don't settle. I don't believe that fancy consult rooms and high hourly rates are a substitute for treatment that lacks insight and attention - compounded by what often seemed to be over extended staff. Focus less on the $ clock and more on providing relevant support for those families and children that truly need the assistance. We often come to you for support not yet accessible through public services whilst we desperately try to better understand the issues affecting our children. Having expensive therapies suggested within the first few sessions without truly understanding your patient seems premature and inconsiderate. For our family to leave your practise after 8 months and then very quickly thereafter receive a public assessment that deems your child as a priority for the DHB & other support services, leaves me feeling like your services failed us. But hey - the rooms are pretty.
