Don’t use this taxi service it’s a rip off. Wellington Airport to CBD $58. They will charge you more if you are not from NZ. Do not say you are a tourist they rip them off way worse!!! USE UBER. Or agree a price before you get in the taxi. They are scamming everyone!

Got scammed by the driver. At the end of my trip he added an extra $15 saying it was the airport fees. He never informed me of this prior to the trip and told me the only fees was the meter fee. He also said they charge the lowest fees but it ended up costing me $50 more than Uber. Avoid these cheats.

I ordered a taxi for 7th July from Lower Hutt central to the Terrace Wellington. I had to pre pay $149.10 which was a gross overcharge. They did not show up and when I tried to call them to ask if they were coming they didn’t answer. I have called and emailed to ask them to return my money which they have not done. Do not order a Capital taxi. They are crooks and thieves.

This is a review about our trip from Wellington Airport to Tawa, Wellington. We came off a flight and tried to get an Uber to Tawa, which we were quoted $80. Unfortunately there was a 20 minute wait, so we went to the Capital Taxis Wellington Taxis rank. I spoke to Jarnail Singh to see how much appropriately they would charge as I had a quote of $80, he said that their charges would be very similar as they were on a meter. When the meter was showing $90 I asked Jarnail how much further, he replied we would be arriving soon. Imagine my surprise when we finally got to our destination and the meter was showing $141.50. I questioned the high price of the fare, which he said was the price we had to pay. This was not the last of his charges, as we incurred a further charge for using a debit card, even after using a card Pin number, not a swip. Total charge for a 24.3km trip was $145.50. An absolute rip off! I want to warn unsuspecting travellers about Capital Taxis Wellington high charges.

My trip from the Wellington airport to Langton Quay was $88?? What ?? First of all the driver took me a way longer route than it was and when I told him it’s a rip off he simply said next time go with uber. Again, what?? I always take cabs from the airport never paid more than $40. Huge complaint email coming to your way guys.. watch this space.. unbelievable

My colleague and I used Capital Taxis from the walk up rank on August 14, 2023, from Wellington Airport to Avalon. The trip seemed okay and I did see a meter and the female driver was pleasant enough until she began talking about God and religion and began preaching. The talk turned to food and she was insistent she would make food and drop it at hotel and I stupidly gave her my mobile number. The following day I received a text to say she had made food and wanted to drop it off, or something. I apologized and said we had another engagement and had no response. I thought that was the end of it until the early hours of August 16th I was woken up with my phone ringing at about 3.45am, then 3.47am and 3.49am. I did not answer any of them and then was WIDE awake. I discovered it was the same number as the cab driver! I blocked her. I am sending this out as a warning that this woman basically stalked me in the middle of the night. I have her name and Cab number if there are repercussions. I realise I let my guard down but this kind of God-Squad stalking behaviour is totally unacceptable. Keep away from this lot. Bad news.

I recently booked a taxi with Capital Taxis through the AirNZ website for my flight. Despite confirming the pick-up time and address with Capital Taxis the day before, the taxi failed to arrive on the morning of my flight. I made multiple attempts to contact them, but my calls were ignored. With no other alternatives available, I had to rely on a kind neighbor for a ride to the city and then book an Uber to get to the airport. Capital Taxis eventually sent me a WhatsApp message 30 minutes before my flight's departure time, stating they had technical issues that prevented them from receiving my calls and then cancelled my booking without offering any apology or explanation. They didn't even bother to give me a call. What if I didn't have internet connection? I would have never received their message. This ordeal caused me significant distress and anxiety. I believed that a service provided through the AirNZ platform would be reliable and professional, but this incident has unfortunately shattered my trust. Customer service from AirNZ Taxis confirmed that Capital Taxis promised to reimburse my unexpected Uber cost, but they never contacted me. Even when I tried reaching out to Capital Taxis directly, they showed no intention of doing so. I have been seeking reimbursement for the unexpected Uber cost and compensation for the stress and inconvenience, but have yet to receive any satisfactory resolution from Capital Taxis. Their lack of communication and responsibility has left me disheartened and doubtful of their intentions to rectify the situation. I strongly advise against using Capital Taxis for any future bookings, as their unreliable and unprofessional service has been a major disappointment.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I WAS CONNED INTO PAYING $139.68 for a short trip from the airport to Courtney Place. A fare that should have been under $40. Like previous reviewers I jumped into a Capital Taxi as it was the first one in the queue. He proceeded to take me a long way round to my hotel in Courtney Place. I asked him why he was not using the Mount Victoria Tunnel and he told me it was closed which I later discovered was a lie. There was no metre or fare tariffs displayed in the taxi. When I arrived at the hotel he told me the fare was $69.84! I usually pay between $30 to $40 for this trip. I questioned the amount and asked him where his metre was. He said 'on my phone' and he flashed his phone in front of me. He gave me his EFTPOS machine to pay the fare and then told me that it had not gone through and after doing something on the machine showed me the $69.84 again. I paid and asked for a receipt. He said he did not have any paper in the machine to give a receipt. I continued to insist and eventually he went to the boot and got a roll of paper. Took ages. My return fair from my hotel to the airport with Wellington Combined Taxis was $34.00. When I got home and checked my bank account I had paid Capital Taxis twice. So he lied about the first payment not going through so I paid a total of $139.68 for the ride. Something needs to be done about this company! You are probably reading this after you have had a bad experience with them. You don't tend to check out taxi companies when you come off your plane especially if you are a tourist. I don't expect Capital Taxis care at all about their bad reviews. But I am not going to leave this here as this is theft! So Capital Taxis I am going to make it my aim to get it out there and warn people not to use your taxis. I am informing the police, the airport authorities , the council. I am putting this review on facebook and asking everyone to share this review with everyone on their facebook page too. I know someone on Fair GO TV programme and will see if they will do an article about this company. I encourage everyone else who has been conned by this company to do the same.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I booked a taxi to airport and paid in advance via the form on website. I then found alternate transport and cancelled my booking (at least 24 hours in advance). I called them that day to check I would get a refund and was told I would. Nearly 4 weeks later I am still waiting. I have been calling and they say they’ll pass the message on but never call me back. Emails have gone unanswered. It’s put me out $125

Jumped in this companies cab as first on rank at Wellington Airport. Short trip 1km to Miramar. Driver ignored both direct ways to get to address and went the long way. Half way through asked how to get there and for directions. Hidden fees and on arrival just assumed I wanted to use eftpos instead of cash. Tried to hide the screen from me so I couldn't see what the charge was. $29.49 to travel 1000m. Will not use this company again.
