The Hagerty specialist insurer equivalent but in New Zealand! Really professional, relational, and realistic people. Never thought I would be passionate about my insurer, but I am about the car, and they get this.

This is the first time I have done a review. I am that annoyed with Classic Cars. I would go lower than 1 star but unfortunately there isn't an option. I have 5 cars insured through Classic Cars/Classic Cars Prestige. I have a broker (Rothbury Insurance - equally useless who suggested Classic) who manages all my insurance (personal, business and life etc.). Up until the last 7 weeks, I had never made a claim with Classic. I recently was involved in an accident (through no fault of my own) and had to make a claim. Classic cars have been absolutely useless. They have decided to write-off (commercially) my Range Rover even through there is minor scratching on it and literally no dents or serious damage. It is perfectly drivable and the damage is considerably under the sum it is insured for. I suspect I have under-insured the vehicle and they have calculated it is in their interest to sell the vehicle and get a salvage value rather than fix it. They wouldn't even acknowledge my request to discuss options. Then they have been slow to pay out dragging their heels all the way. They uplifted my scratched Range Rover (which I was still driving) to take it away nearly a week ago with the promise I would be paid the full vehicle value immediately. I still haven't been paid out. When asked today (Tuesday) where the payment is the told me they paid it last Thursday and it takes 3-5 working days to show up in my account. NZ banks process payments every 30 minutes between 9am and 11:45pm, 7 days a week, so this answer doesn't ring true. Please take my advice and steer clear of this insurance company. Go to Star Insurance. The one claim I had with them years ago, over a dropped motorcycle, was amazing. They are considerably better at communication and paid exactly when they said they would.
I been insured with Classic Cover for ten years. After having to make a claim I give them 10/10. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thank you for handling this claim so efficiently.

I had a claim after a car driver knocked me off my motorbike. The car driver originated denied liability but Classic Cover interviewed a witness and the car driver then admitted liability. A great effort so thanks
If you are a younger car enthusiast wanting to insure your classic with these guys you will be out of luck. It says on their website they will consider under 25s if they have a clean licence but I was flat out refused service. My car is also very well cared for and factory standard. Very disappointing after hearing good things from others.
