I just saw the negative comment about Kelsey and had to respond, because this was so different to my experience. I received excellent, expert service from Kelsey when buying my boots. As a result I took my cousin to the store when she needed new boots, and she too was extremely impressed by Kelsey’s helpfulness.
I purchased this knife about a week ago and was disappointed to find rust and obvious production defects right out of the box. When I brought it back to the store, the manager claimed not to see any issues and refused a return, replacement, or any kind of warranty support. Extremely frustrating experience and very poor customer service. I can’t recommend buying from here based on how defects and concerns are handled.
The folks are so knowledgeable here! Skip the vlogs and just go in to get advice on tramping around NZ. Jay spent a good chunk of time explaining everything to me that I needed to know to get me TA ready.
Update: Stopped in today and was served by Kelsey. Kelsey seemed like she didn't want to be there and seemed less knowledgeable than others I've talked to. Hard to get help from staff when entering the store too, had to approach staff at the counter to ask for help who were chatting at the counter. Overall 4/5 experience. There are definitely different sales associates in store who provide a higher level of customer service as the below original review mentions. Original review: Great service form Josh (and a French girl?? - sorry I didn't catch your name). Josh fitted my pack for me and was super knowledgeable. The French girl gave me shoe AND gear recommendations for the TA! Super knowledgeable team in here. Busy shop but I didn't feel like they were rushing me or trying to push to sell anything. Thanks heaps team! I'll be back
Fantastic experience with super helpful staff. I came in to try a specific pack and received amazing service. I didn’t catch her name, but the woman was incredibly knowledgeable, properly fitted it for me and explained the ins and outs of the pack. Very impressed, would 100% recommend!!

Great shop that actually cares about customers,...had some "courier" issues but the team(in particular skye)was very helpful and communicative to resolve the issue.thanks a lot!!!
Not giving 1 star for this particular shop, but the company itself is all over the place! Advertises stock online, but turns out that the stock isn't actually available from the supplier and the marketing team can't seem to coordinate with the stock team re. what stock is actually available for purchase and when i.e. I purchased something listed on their website in early March - turns out it's not actually expected to arrive until late April/early May from the overseas distributor...the staff in the store made mention of the fact that online orders are often delayed/cancelled and they have to deal with disgruntled online customers. Have spent 2 weeks now trying to get to the bottom of whether the items I ordered are even available, and if they are, no time frame has been given. My first and last time purchasing from this company, very disappointed in general. Suggest you learn how to coordinate between your departments. Misleading customers is something that gets reported to the Commerce Commission. Update: got asked to contact the shop as per their reply below - have emailed and now over a week and never received a response!
We were given exceptionally helpful service finding the perfect backpack for both tramping and travelling. Patiently worked through all the features and fittings of the various options until we had exactly what we needed. Despite the shop being very busy we did not feel rushed or pressured. They stock excellent quality gear. Sure there is cheaper gear around town but Bivouac sell investment pieces that will last and staff advice ensures a vastly improved experience while using it. Thanks team - we'll be back!
