Had a great time learning to sail at this place. The classes went as scheduled without any being postponed due to weather conditions and always felt very safe. Great atmosphere, good time on water/ theory balance and good start into the long term sailing adventure.
Did the intro to sailing course and it was awesome! You get heaps of hands on time on the boats mixed with a bit of classroom learning to balance it out. Instructors were great as well, and it was good experience sailing with different instructors and crews. Would recommend
Wellington Ocean Sports is the place to learn how to sail in Wellington, the place to get involved in regular sailing and the place to keep-up-to-date with your future sailing education, whichever way you are heading, racing or cruising. The courses are very hands-on and just the right mix between classroom and practical learning. The teaching style is laid back, fun and accessible for any person with or without sailing experience. I can only recommend Jim and James to anyone wanting to sail in Wellington. You get 50% discount on the RPNYC (Port Nick Yacht Club) first year fee which gives you access to regular weekly sailing with the great bunch of sailors this club is made of. An excellent introduction to the seemingly daunting world of sailing. This course doesn't leave you stuck in the classroom all day, watching videos and looking at slideshows! The vast majority of the course is spent out on Wellington Harbour, learning through hands-on interaction with the boats. Yes, it can be a little bit full-on at times and some parts of my body hurt that I didn't know existed, but ultimately it is a rewarding and unique opportunity to gain essential skills in a fascinating sport and leisure activity.

Amazing experience with Wellington Ocean Sport, I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. I recently attended their awesome Learn to Sail course as a complete novice and came away with a firm grasp of all the fundamentals. The course was well run - very professional but also friendly and jovial (we had two immense instructors in Jim and Graham). I've already booked my next course and look forward to joining the club and racing :-)... thanks so much guys
