Barbara Davey was exceptional while purchasing our first home. We’d had a bad experience with a previous law firm, coincidentally for the property we ended up purchasing, the vendor has the same lawyer so we had to change. We reached out to a few law firms and Wakefields got back to us first. Pure luck we got Barbara. Barbara was communicative, efficient, followed some curly things up for us (issues with kiwisaver being delayed by previous lawyer due to a failed purchase, among other things). We were probably being a bit unrealistic/optimistic about timeframes, but Barbara made it happen. Made us feel totally heard the whole time. Realistic and supportive, great at explaining things in real terms for complete novices to the process. Really cannot recommend enough. Thank you so much!

We have engaged Wakefields Lawyers on three occasions, and each time we received reliable, helpful, and professional service. Most recently, Hugo Lombard assisted us, who we found to be efficient, professional and approachable.

I highly recommend Michelle Stapleton at Wakefields. She always explained everything clearly to me, super responsive and gave good advice while I had to work through some gnarly decisions and navigate tricky relationships with sellers and agents. The housing sector can be brutal if you're not overly experienced- Michelle was a big part of me getting through the process and getting a great house in the end.

The team at Wakefields Lawyers have been fantastic to deal with for the sale of our home and purchase of our new one. We worked closely with Sam who made the whole process easy to understand, was available to answer questions and able to meet all of our deadlines to assist in the multiple offers required before we were finally successful. What I particularly like about Wakefield is how approachable and down to earth they are and would highly recommend them.

We were dealing with Hugo Lombard at Wakefield Lawyers Wellington to do our property transfer. He was approachable, easy to deal with and explained all the legal terms and conditions set out in the mortgage and transfer documents. This made us feel confident and at ease with our decision. Buying a house is such a big expense that you need a good legal team to support you. I will recommend this firm and Hugo to friends and family.

Used Wakefields for a residential property transaction. They were very friendly, clear, reassuring and happy to answer any questions. Everything went smoothly.

Very happy with the service received for the sale of my property. I was kept informed all along and given advice as needed. Would recommend Tom Speights of Wakefields lawyers.

My property transfer was smooth and well managed given my overseas location, the communications by Billy Hansen were very good. Ken Luffman

Highly recommended. We worked with Tom directly to settle our first home purchase, everything went as exactly as planned. Tom and the team kept us in the loop and well formed through the process. They offered great advice which actualy saw us reconsider on a property due to issues we would not have picked up on. Efficient, friendly and one of the few place we emailed to actively contact us.

We used the services of Merlaina Donald regarding applying for a partnership visa. My partner and I were both very unhappy with the service for the following reasons: 1) Merlaina didn't seem very familiar with the process often incorrectly quoting estimated timelines which we later checked for ourselves on the immigration website. We also had to pay extra fees because she failed to adequately detail the needed relationship evidence which was outlined clearly in a email sent by the immigration department. Surely this is like step 101 of giving advice on visa application matters? 2) Merlaina was unprofessional to the point of rudeness. Didn't answer phone calls during working hours. This got worse as time went on when I asked if she was not getting our calls and messages she simply ignored the question. My partner Angela asked some clarification questions to which she replied in sarcastic and rude tone. We considered making an official complaint but both feel we have wasted enough time and energy on this already. My family are legal people my mother, step-mother as well as my father in Ireland are involved in the legal business. My mother, step-mother both being lawyers agreed the service was of a very low standard. Save your money do the work yourself or go to another legal council.
