   We visited the store last week and terrible experience with one of the staff member. We just want to buys the roasted peanuts and we need to show ID? And the staff member even mentioned that if we want to buys chewing gums we still need ID for it. I said we don’t need to show you ID for these and that’s not the law in NZ. But he said it’s the LAW.. poor customer service I have ever had in my entire life. Just wanted to add this to the replies I am not under 18 I have my ID with me it’s just that my Boyfriend didn’t have his ID. And Again Terrible service ever.

   This place has a huge amazing selection of alcohol. They should do some taster sessions as some of the unusual products. Great staff member and knew his stuff.

   Customer service was non existent. Stocks were limited and some shelves pretty bare. Prices were a little steep for certain spirits and range was limited. Only good thing was plenty of parking outside.

   If this pace had better lighting and more inviting decor I'd give it a five star rating. Their selections of liquor are pretty decent for a medium sized bottle shop.

   Always go into big barrel to purchase our alcohol but over the last few months with the new employees have been put off. Was clapped at as i was heading into the shop by one of the employees 10 minutes prior to them closing telling me to hurry up and then another the other day asking my young daughter for i.d when i was purchasing something and when i responded advising him that she was my daughter and many parents take children into shops with them he proceeded to make sarcastic remarks as we were leaving the shop. Aside from the above i have nothing else bad to say.

   Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and very good and tasty beer selection... Good selection of Burbons, too... Close to airport so perfect place to spend a few hours before heading into Wellington city.
