   Our Christmas miracle came early in the form of Hutt City Auto Services. We were traveling in a rental campervan when a coolant leak suddenly stalled our five-day journey north. Our rental company referred us to another nearby shop, but after a day and a half of delays and uncertainty we were left feeling like our trip was effectively over. HCAS changed everything within minutes of arriving. Paul, the owner, not only took our situation seriously - he immediately offered us a safe place to park overnight and insisted we use their private employee space so we wouldn’t have to sleep on the sloped parking at the front of the shop. That level of care told us he understood the realities of campervan travel and genuinely wanted to help. To Paul, we weren’t just auto service customers - we were honored guests of Hutt City Auto Service. Within the hour he had identified the coolant issue in the radiator and estimated the replacement radiator would arrive tomorrow before lunch. Within two hours, he somehow found a radiator and had had us back on the road 12 hours earlier than his own estimate and four days sooner than what we had been told elsewhere. His communication was clear, the workmanship flawless, and the kindness unmistakable. Usually kindness like this comes from the closest of friends and family - here, it came from people who began in fact as strangers, but ended up in act the most sincere and generous hosts we could only hope for. While traveling across New Zealand I came across a Māori word that I believe captures this feeling perfectly: manaakitanga —hospitality, care, and generosity toward guests. Hutt City Auto Services embodies manaakitanga completely. We walked in disappointed and hopeless; we left feeling uplifted and back in motion (with some Whittakers chocolate on the house too)! If you need a mechanic you can trust, especially while traveling, HCAS is where you’ll find people who treat you not just as customers, but as guests they are proud to look after. Paul, thank you for saving our trip and reminding us that Christmas miracles do happen, and that they sometimes look like your local auto shop with world class level service. Forever a fan, Simon

   Paul and his team are excellent. From initial contact to driving our motorhome away after the work was done, the experience was superb. They even arranged to get the COF done at VTNZ. Paul took the time to explain everything and answer any questions I had. In fact, he went the extra mile on a couple of issues. The vehicle service was very thorough and reasonably priced. They have a dedicated motorhome bay and access is easy, so if you have an RV I recommend that you give Paul and his exceptional team at Hutt City Auto Services a go. You won't be disappointed.

   Awful. Didn't really want to know me. Felt like an inconvenience rather than a customer. They blamed Covid for everything and indicated my car wasn't a priority ahead of cars that came in after mine. They weren't happy about giving me an idea of costs, then told me it was all too much of a drama and I can come and get my car and go elsewhere. So I did. Won't be back and suggest others look elsewhere.

   After "another" garage tried gouging me for hundreds of dollars to change a simple sensor, Paul and team were highly recommended by several of my colleagues as trustworthy. They communicate really well and check with you on work they think is only necessary. They even allowed me to pick the car up after hours when I couldn't get back on time. Prices were very reasonable and service was top notch. Very happy customer here, my turn to highly recommend these folks!
