    We mapped to this place as we are full on coffee snobs and lovvvvve a good brew! Was totally worth it. Best coffee of our trip around NZ this summer. Flat whites with almond milk. Thank God for Milklab brand. Got a triple shot for 50c extra yuss! Kids had cheese scones which were also tasty. No food options as not their focus just a tiny cabinet so come prepared for a cuppa not a feed. Super friendly service and a nice sheltered outdoor area for seating. Pretty small and cosy.

    I am a TA thru-hiker from Korea. I really wanted to drink coffee today. β€œDark Horse” is the place with the highest rating on Google Maps near me. I walked more than 6km from my tenting place and came to drink coffee. I ordered a long black and an iced latte at once and drank it. coffee tastes really good However, the music was a little loud, but if the music was low, the conversations of many customers would be rather noisy. Anyway, walking 13 km round trip is worth the coffee taste.

    This was a two coffees in one sitting for us, which is indicative of how much we loved it. More of a coffee rather than food place. Tends towards the darker roasted, strong style of coffee rather than fruity, lighter style. Great laid-back atmosphere and music.

    Roast their own coffee ! Their long black was really nice ! Glad I came here for takeaway coffees instead of grabbing one at the super busy cafes near the beach !

    Good dark roast coffee if you like strong chocolate notes. Bit intense for an espresso. But good under milk. Friendly staff and cool spot a bit hidden away though
