Ray (the owner) was fantastic. His knowledge and experience in the field are top-tier. For the first time in my life, I had to seriously consider the type of running shoes I was wearing due to chronic Achilles tendinitis. Two months into using the shoes he recommended, I haven't experienced any stiffness or pain during or after my runs, and the tendinitis has only continued to improve. Sure, the shoes themselves (Hoka Mach X2) probably deserve a review of their own, but it's Ray I have to thank for the spot-on recommendation. He’s earned a loyal customer here.
These guys are amazing, they take the time to work out what's best for you. When the first pair I got over corrected my running, I went back and they immediately suggested another shoe and replaced them. Love the new shoes. Just so helpful and nice, won't buy running shoes from anywhere else.

My recent experience with Shoe Science Takapuna highlights why I have been a dedicated customer to this particular store for the past several years. My last purchased trainers had an unexpected very short lifespan. The owner specially went out of his way and went to extra effort to having them be replaced by that particular brand. Having had a very serious stroke in my early teens, it is very important that I keep as active as my body allows, with my shoes playing a big part with strong ankle support, light weight, good grip and alignment of my body. Great service, knowledge, attention to detail and friendliness all round. Thanks Mike and team for all your help recently and throughout the years!
